It appears there were some problems with the PS-Store, and there are some complaints about it, from trivial to quite serious ones. Even if the PS-store isn't a failure at all, it seems to be in need of some further repairs and improvements.
The official release of the new PS-Store was announced officially on PlayStation’s community forum:
“Hi all,
As you will have noticed, the PS Store re-launched successfully today, and we'd like to thank you for your positive feedback.
We are aware that many of you have experienced delays whilst the PS Store's thumbnail icons are being downloaded. This is a temporary consequence of a new system implementation and high global traffic levels, and will be resolved within the next few days.
Thank you for your patience and continued support!
All the best,
Lestrade”
Unfortunately for Sony, some of their customers may find it difficult to get used to this new version and actually want the old PS-Store back, for various reasons. For example, some might say that it was easier to move around in the old one and it didn’t take you long to get used to it.
Also, the categories aren’t exactly well established, and most importantly, the user isn’t being told the path he or she took after entering a series of sub-categories. Usually, this kind of things should be designed to be as user-friendly as possible, because gamers would rather spend their time playing instead of figuring out how to get back to a certain section of their PS-Store. Speed should be a prime attribute of this product, but having to wait for thumbnail icons to download is not helping at all.
All in all, the PS-Store isn’t a game, so it doesn’t really need fancy graphics, just a high degree of functionality and rich content.
